Bad weather creates travel nightmare at Boston Logan Airport

Travelers to and from Boston’s Logan International Airport spent a lot of time on Thursday waiting for a boarding gate on planes or waiting inside the airport terminal for their flight to depart delayed. Sky 5 video showed dozens of planes parked on the taxiways at Logan Airport, waiting for a gate for their flights to arrive to park. The Federal Aviation Administration placed Boston in what’s called a traffic management program for arriving flights and delayed departures by more than an hour due to thunderstorms in parts of the northeast. Latest FAA Air Traffic Control Delays The bulletin also cited Delta Gate issues and surface congestion for the delays. The FlightRadar24 flight tracking website showed several diverted inbound Delta flights to Providence, Detroit, Baltimore and Norfolk, Virginia. WCVB has contacted Delta Air Lines for comment. Additionally, flights to New York area airports were delayed between two and three hours due to weather conditions.
