Elon Musk fathered twins with Neuralink executive: report

Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis, a top executive at his neurotech company Neuralink, secretly had twins in November 2021, according to court documents obtained by Business Insider.

The children were born weeks before the billionaire welcomed his second child, a surrogate, with his recurring partner, musician Grimes.

In April, Mr Musk, 51, and Ms Zilis, 36, filed a petition to change the twins’ surname to “have their father’s surname” and contain part of their mother’s surname in their middle name, according to the documents. A Texas court approved the request in May.

The Independent contacted Neuralink, Mr. Musk and Ms. Zilis for comment.

Mr. Musk has nine children in total.

Court documents show the pair listed the same home address in Austin, Texas, according to Initiated.

Tesla has a large factory on the outskirts of town, and Mr. Musk’s rocket company, SpaceX, flies out of the downstate town of Boca Chica.

Ms. Zilis is a Yale-trained artificial intelligence specialist.

She and Mr. Musk met through OpenAI, the artificial intelligence research nonprofit that Mr. Musk helped found in 2015.

Ms. Zilis is a board member of OpenAI.

She then joined Mr. Musk at his flagship company, Tesla, as a project manager working on computer chips and the automaker’s Autopilot program.

She is now the director of operations and special projects at Neuralink, another company run by Musk, which designs computer implants to allow people’s brains to control electronic devices.

So far, the company has only tested its technology on animals.

Ms Zilis has ardently defended Mr Musk online in the past against his critics, writing in a 2020 post that “there is no one I respect and admire more”.

In September, Mr Musk and Grimes, real name Claire Boucher, separated, later getting back together to some extent and welcoming a daughter via surrogate in December.

In March, Ms. Boucher said she and Mr. Musk had broken up again.

She said vanity lounge in a profile that month that she and the Tesla CEO had a “smooth relationship” and planned to have more children together.

“There’s no real word for it,” she said. “I would probably call him my boyfriend, but we’re very fluid. We live in separate houses. We are best friends. We see each other all the time… We just have our own thing going on, and I don’t expect the others to understand it.

Attention to Mr. Musk’s personal life has grown steadily in recent months.

In May, Initiated reported that SpaceX paid a company flight attendant $250,000 after he accused Mr. Musk of exposing himself to her and offering to have sex with her.

Mr Musk denied the allegations, saying there is “a lot more to this story” and calling the article a “politically motivated blockbuster”.
