Infineon and Delta Electronics Further Expand Collaboration in WBG-Based Gaming PC and Server Power Solutions to Maximize End-Application Efficiency

MUNICH, July 8, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Global megatrends, such as digitalization and decarbonization, require Wide Band Gap (WBG) (SiC/GaN) devices. Thanks to their unique technological characteristics, they allow both maximum performance and energy efficiency. Being committed to these two fields, two major players in the electronics industry, Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) and Delta Electronics, Inc. (TWSE: 2308), are deepening their collaboration to provide superior solutions for the convenience of end customers.

The 1.4 kW server power supply leverages Infineon's CoolSiC™ MOSFET technology and Delta's decades-long core competence in power electronics to achieve over 96% efficiency.

The most recent and prominent examples of this cooperation include Delta’s 1.4 kW server power supply and a 1.6 kW titanium gaming power supply platform. The 1.4 kW server power supply leverages Infineon’s CoolSiC™ MOSFET technology and Delta’s decades-long core competence in power electronics to achieve over 96% efficiency. Another example of maximum efficiency is the 1.6kW gaming power rig powered by Infineon’s CoolGaN™ technology complemented by EiceDRIVER™ gate driver ICs. The efficiency of this design reaches up to 96% at a wide range of multiple inputs and outputs and meets the Titanium standard in the industrial field. This is made possible by Infineon’s CoolGaN™ GIT (Gate Injection Transistor) electronic mode 600V HEMT, fitted in an interleaved totem-pole PFC topology.

Both design examples demonstrate how Infineon’s market-leading, broadest and most capable portfolio of highly reliable WBG devices, combined with Delta’s potential for system innovation, can enable new levels of efficiency. to meet and exceed the demands of modern applications. By deepening their collaboration, the two companies aim for a leading position in WBG-based platforms through cost-effective and robust solutions backed by the highest supply stability.

“Given our commitment to invest more than eight percent of our annual revenue in R&D-based innovation, Delta’s power supply solutions for servers and gaming PCs provide the highest quality components at high performance required to build a customized, reliable and energy-efficient infrastructure that meets the expectations of our customers,” said jimmy yin, vice president and general manager of Delta’s Power and System business group. “Success in such a fiercely competitive environment requires working with highly reliable, industry-leading component suppliers with deep system understanding and fully customized solutions for application-specific requirements. Infineon’s comprehensive WBG product portfolio has helped achieve the best energy efficiency for many of our customers’ applications.”

“Our manufacturing scale and technological excellence, combined with our focus on quality and reliability at every step of the value chain, are key to the success of our wide bandgap semiconductor business and are well recognized by our customers,” said Johannes Schoiswohl, Business Line Manager, Efficient Power Supplies, Isolation and Connectivity, Power Systems and Sensors Division, Infineon. “By applying rigorous qualification and reliability testing procedures to our devices, beyond standard JEDEC qualification, we can predict the long-term behavior of our WBG devices and ensure reliability in the field throughout the cycle. life of the product. We are excited about the opportunities our collaboration with Delta holds for us in the server and gaming market.”
