SFO says passengers should be prepared for hours of waits at security amid increased travel

Travelers checking into San Francisco International Airport have found security lines to be longer and slower than they had expected over the past few days, leaving some to worry about whether they’ll make it through. flights.

Airport officials have advised airlines to advise their passengers that they may have to wait “longer than usual” to clear Transportation Security Administration checkpoints at SFO due to “very high levels passenger activity,” according to an email sent Tuesday by American Airlines.

With COVID travel restrictions eased, school out for the summer and people eager to travel, the Bay Area’s busiest airport is seeing an increase in air travelers to around 75% of levels. before the pandemic, SFO spokesman Doug Yakel told The Chronicle.

The airport urges passengers to prepare for a busier airport experience by arriving at the airport at least two hours prior to departure for domestic flights and at least three hours prior to departure for international flights.
