Earlier this year, Capcom officially unveiled exoprimala new Anthem-like online shooter with loads of dinosaurs. This dinosaur-filled trailer also featured a red-haired woman, who seemed like a wink or even a connection to Dino Crisis 1 and 2 drive Regina. Was it new exoprimal game connected to dinosaur crisis? Well, we now have confirmation straight from Capcom that… no, it doesn’t. Sorry.

In an interview with IGN earlier this weekCapcom Director Takuro Hiraoka talked about this exoprimal is and, more importantly for some players, what it is not. Asked by IGN if exoprimal is connected to dinosaur crisis anyway, he confirmed that while the initial trailer seemed to hint at some sort of connection, it wasn’t.

“No,” Hiraoka replied. “The game is a unique thing and has nothing to do with dinosaur crisis.”

I have no idea if IGN asked this, but a good follow-up question I would have asked is this: so what was the decision-making process behind teasing a new dinosaur game by including a red-haired woman as a big part of exoprimalit is first revelation? All that made only anger and disappointment dinosaur crisis Fans without reason and these poor souls no longer need to suffer. Many of them had to endure the last game released in the series, 2003 dino crisis 3. They have suffered enough.

Other details revealed in that same interview include confirmation that exoprimal will not be a free game and will instead be a “full price version”, shipping both digitally and physically.

According to Hiraoka, the initial concept of exoprimal was to create something that featured “satisfying action” but was different from previous Capcom games.

“Instead of a game like monster hunterwhere you face a single powerful enemy, we thought the experience of facing and defeating a massive horde of enemies had the appeal and potential to be the basis for a new IP,” Hiraoka explained. .

“We also thought it would be great to share this experience with others online, and so the core concept of exoprimal was born.”

Exoprimal – Reveal Trailer

Once the team has settled exoprimalit is gameplay concept, the next step was to figure out what kind of enemies would make up the large hordes of bad guys that players would be tasked with fighting and slaying. Hiraoka said choosing dinosaurs as the main enemies in exoprimal was an easy and quick choice.

“I thought it would be fun to experience the threat of the most fearsome predators in history,” Hiraoka said. “And that if there were hundreds or thousands of them, it would be an intensity never seen before.” It also led to the team becoming futuristic as they believed modern weaponry would not be enough to stop the massive amount of dinosaurs players would encounter during missions.

Of course none of this really matters to y’all dinosaur crisis lovers out there who still watch Capcom redo and remaster each resident Evil game never made while its classic dinosaur-filled survival horror franchise lingers in obscurity, destined to remain as extinct as the dinosaurs themselves.

In any event, exoprimal should arrive in 2023 on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. And who knows, maybe Capcom will launch some dinosaur crisis skins.
